National Forest Stewardship Standard: Cameroon


Cameroon is a country of the Congo Basin with 475 000 Km2. It is covered by diversified vegetation types and ecosystems distributed throughout the country from north to south. This is made up of; forests, savannas and steppes. Cameroon has a forest cover of 17, 5 million ha. As of the time of drafting this standard, more than 100 community forests exist in the country with a total area of about 500 000 ha.

FSC-STD-CAM-01-2012 Natural and Plantations

This standard follows the requirements of FSC-STD-60-002 “Structure and content of forest stewardship standards” to improve consistency and transparency in certification decisions between different CBs in the Congo Basin region and thereby to enhance the credibility of the FSC certification scheme in the region as a whole.
