In the run-up to COP21, FSC France has prepared a manifesto calling on the attending governments to take firm and effective decisions concerning the world’s forests, by making clear and transparent commitments to ambitious reductions in CO2 emissions which include the forestry and land-use sectors.
During this COP, FSC will be organizing a myriad of events and activities in support of this manifesto, to raise awareness of, and advocate for, forests in climate change policy.
We have created a dedicated section for news and updates about FSC’s involvement in COP 21 on fsc.org. Visit this section often to get the latest update!
On 4 December, FSC will hold an official COP side event in partnership with Fauna and Flora International and OroVerde. Entitled Using Experiences from REDD+ Piloting and Forest Certification to Inform National REDD+ Action, it will present approaches to harnessing the power of REDD+ and forest certification to cut carbon emissions while simultaneously reducing poverty and conserving biodiversity.
FSC will also be present at the CIFOR Global Landscape Forum on 5 and 6 December, with an information booth and interactive sessions at the event pavilions. The forum, in its fourth year, is dedicated to developing the potential application of landscape-based approaches to climate change policy and the Sustainable Development Goals.
