FSC Conditionally Approves Roadmap to End Disassociation from APP
Wednesday, 5 April 2017
(Bonn, 6 April, 2017) – The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Board of Directors has agreed to conditionally approve a roadmap towards ending disassociation from Asia Pulp & Paper Group (APP) at their 74th meeting in Jogjakarta (Indonesia) last February 2017.
The decision was taken after several rounds of stakeholder consultation over the last year on altogether five drafts of the Roadmap.
With this conditional approval, the Board has required that remaining stakeholder concerns shall be addressed through further amendments of the roadmap document as well as through additional plans that will have to be developed separately from the roadmap and in consultation with stakeholders. These will also lay out the performance thresholds that APP will have to meet and how the completion of the roadmap will be verified.
The development of relevant performance indicators and verification plans will be led by FSC with the support of third party experts to ensure the correct implementation of this process and will be submitted to the FSC Board of Directors for final approval.
