Open call to join the technical working group
FSC is looking for stakeholders and technical experts (not exclusive to FSC membership) to join the technical working group (TWG) to revise our trademark standard FSC-STD-50-002. The group will identify the best feasible approach to streamline the trademark requirements for non-certificate holders.
The call for members for the TWG is now open. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2017. If you believe you can make a contribution in this area, please apply by filling out the online application form. The first TWG meeting is planned for the 26 & 27 September. For details on the process and work of the TWG, see the terms of reference.
All information – terms of reference, current policy, membership of the TWG, and additional resources – can be found here.
Wanted: consultative forum members
All FSC stakeholders are also invited to contribute to the revision of this standard by taking part in a consultative forum about technical issues relating to the revision.
Please complete the registration form to participate. Feel free to join the consultative forum at any time: the registration will remain open until the revision is complete.
Why are we revising the standard FSC-STD-50-002?
The objective of the revision is to streamline the trademark requirements to make it easier to promote FSC-certified products. . It will also address Motion 29 - "The Logo Motion", which was passed at the FSC General Assembly 2014.
What are the objectives of this standard?
While the other trademark standard, FSC-STD-50-001, focuses on the use of FSC trademark by FSC certificate holders. The standard FSC-STD-50-002 specifies requirements for FSC trademark to be used for the promotion of FSC-certified products to consumers, or general promotion of FSC as a system by non-certificate holders – i.e. all eligible users who are not required to be certified according to the FSC Chain of Custody standard FSC-STD-40-004 – and by certification bodies and their affiliate offices. Eligible users may apply to become trademark licensees to promote the FSC-certified products they sell or use in their own business activities.
