The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) will be participating in the annual Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) which this year will be held in Bonn on 19-20 December 2017.

The Global Landscapes Forum is the world’s largest science-led multi-sectoral platform for integrated land use, bringing together many different players, from world leaders, scientists, private sector representatives, civil society and the media to accelerate action towards the creation of more sustainable landscapes.

Addressing the challenges of forest restoration and reforestation is an integral part of responsible forest management and FSC has started to play an increasing role in this debate. Several ecosystem services pilot projects have been able to show restoration impacts, showing how a wider landscape approach to responsible forestry can have positive effects.

Together with other members of the Global Partnership on Forest and Landscape Restoration (GPFLR), FSC will be engaging with members of GLF to communicate the specific assets that FSC certification brings to forest restoration projects through concrete examples in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

“Bonn once again becomes the epicentre of global forest restoration after the Bonn Challenge was launched in 2011 and we are looking forward to show our engagement with forest restoration and reforestation through our own management requirements,” commented John Hontelez, Chief Advocacy Officer at FSC.

Coinciding with the GLF, FSC has published a white paper on FSC certification and forest restoration. This document is available in English, Spanish and French versions:
- English version: FSC's Contribution to Forest Restoration
- Spanish version: Contribuciones de FSC a la Restauración Forestal
- French version: Contributions du FSC à la Restauration Forestière
