Romania Launches FSC National Forest Stewardship Standard
Tuesday, 15 January 2019
New Romania national forest stewardship standard effective from 15 April 2019.
Romanian National Forest Stewardship Standard (NFSS) has been developed by a chamber-balanced standards development group using multi-stakeholder process and a representative consultative forum. The standards development group had nine members, three for each chamber. They represented forest administrators, forestry services providers, forestry education, local communities, labor organizations, institutions of culture, environmental NGOs.
This standard is applicable to all forest operations seeking FSC certification within Romania. The standard applies to all types of forest and sizes (except Small and Low Intensity Managed Forests), managed for continuity of yield and production.
The field test was conducted by accredited certification body and members of standards development group in three different organizations, in state forest and private/community forests.
The standard is available here.
