Public Consultation launched on FSC Advice note on Access to Information regarding Species and Origin of Timber

Friday, 24 August 2012

FSC is developing an Advice note to ensure that FSC certified products comply with legally required information regarding species and origin of timber and timber products.

In early 2012, following a mandate of the FSC Board of Directors, FSC initiated an updating process of its standards to ensure harmonization with the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) and other timber legality legislations such as the US Lacey Act and FLEGT.

This process includes adjustments in the FSC Chain of Custody requirements to ensure that FSC certified products comply with legally required information regarding species and origin of timber and timber products.
