Controlled Wood Risk Assessment Public Consultation: 1 September 2017

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

All stakeholders will be invited to provide feedback on risk assessments for Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Swaziland, and Turkey. The consultation will open from 1 to 30 September 2017.

FSC risk assessments are used to determine the risk of an organization obtaining material from unacceptable sources when sourcing controlled wood.

Currently, risk assessments for category 4 are based on legal analysis alone. To fill the resulting information gap, we ask that stakeholders provide information regarding forest conversion data.

Stakeholder feedback received during the consultation period will be used to finalize these risk assessments.

Stakeholders are asked to submit feedback to Tatjana Stutzkowsky (t.stutzkowsky@fsc.org) by 30 September 2017.

Please note that the Norwegian draft consultation will be available for 60 days because it is a National Risk Assessment (NRA). All other countries' consultation will be available for 30 days because they are Centralized National Risk Assessments (CNRA).

All information – risk assessments and comment forms – may be found here on 1 September 2017.

Special announcement on behalf of FSC Czech Republic: FSC Czech Republic has chosen to hold its own national public consultation of the Czech risk assessment (Controlled Wood Categories 2, 3, and 4). You can find the Czech version of the draft here (in Czech). The consultation ends on 24 August 2017. Please contact Tomáš Duda (tomas.duda@czechfsc.cz) for further information.
