FSC to host side event at International Tropical Timber Council session in Gabon
The 49th Session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) takes place 25–30 November in Libreville, Gabon. FSC will take part in the meetings throughout week, and will also host an official Side Event on Wednesday 27 November (13:00 – 14:30).
Entitled ‘FSC certification to respond to global sustainability and legality demands,’ the side event will present the role of FSC certification in an increasingly demanding global marketplace. Speakers will address issues such as compliance with timber legality legislation in the US, the European Union and Australia, and the growing preference for sustainable production demanded by both public procurement policies and private markets. They will also discuss barriers to application of FSC certification in tropical countries and how they can be overcome.
