Bonn Lord Mayor Jürgen Nimptsch tests his knowledge of the Forest Stewardship Council at FSC’s quiz at United Nations Day
The Lord Mayor of the City of Bonn was one of hundreds of visitors to FSC’s stand at Saturday’s ‘UN Day’, held annually in Bonn’s Market Square (Marktplatz). FSC’s well-attended stand invited visitors to take part in an ‘FSC Quiz’ which tested general knowledge of the FSC system and responsible forest management.
This year’s UN Day, organized by the City of Bonn, focused on consumption and consumer behavior. It is connected to the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All 2012 and the 2012 topic of food in the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Bonn, which has developed into a hub of international cooperation on environment and sustainable development, is home to many international non-governmental organizations and most had a presence there.
The day began with a reception given by the Lord Mayor in the old town hall. During the day, a stage in the Market Square featured various speakers and events. Throughout the day, FSC’s stand was constantly inundated with members of the public who were curious to know more about FSC, and FSC staff were on hand to answer questions and teach them about responsible forest management.
In case you were wondering, the Lord Mayor scored very well on the quiz!
