Join FSC at COP18!
The 18th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 18) starts today and runs until 7 December in Doha, Qatar. This year, FSC will host a series of targeted events aimed at strengthening its role as a key advocate for positive change with regards to climate change issues.
FSC will be prominent at COP 18, with an official side event followed by a cocktail reception, information booths at the COP official venue and at the Forest Day 6 and participation in an Issue Marketplace discussion. We have created a dedicated section for news and updates about FSC’s involvement in COP 18 on fsc.org. Visit this section often to get the latest update from COP18!
On 30 November, FSC will hold an official side event together with The Gold Standard Foundation and Fairtrade International. The event, entitled The Importance of Collaboration Between 'Best in Class' Standards to Maximise Impact, will discuss the collaboration between FSC and The Gold Standard on land use and forests, combining knowledge and streamlining certification procedures to scale-up sustainable resource management and low carbon development. The event will be followed by a cocktail reception in the city center.
FSC will also be present on 2 December at the CIFOR Forest Day 6 with an information booth and a joint session with The Gold Standard at the Issues Marketplace. The interactive session is entitled Landscape restoration: enhancing more than carbon stocks. Forest Day is an opportunity for a huge range of stakeholders from all over the globe to exchange knowledge, debate, and present best practices, and it is designed to inform and engage world leaders, researchers, donors, policymakers, and others on forest issues.
