National Risk Assessment for Russia approved
On 02 April 2013, FSC approved the National Controlled Wood (CW) Risk Assessment for the Russian Federation.
The approved risk assessment has been conducted for all forest types, covering all 5 Controlled Wood categories. The CW Russian risk assessment will become effective on 01 May 2013.
The risk assessment is applicable for companies seeking to identify risks of sourcing Controlled Wood from forests in the Russian Federation for Company Evaluation of FSC Controlled Wood (FSC-STD-40-005 Version 2-1). Companies that have already conducted risk assessments for forests in Russia will have a period of up to 12 months after the effective date to align their CW program to the new requirements.
FSC accredited certification bodies are responsible for informing their clients of the changes.
The risk assessment will be uploaded to the Global Forest Registry. The FSC Global Forest Registry is an online tool providing companies with easy access to available public information in more than 150 countries.
