Public consultation launched on FSC Advice note on minor components
The draft FSC Advice note on the end of minor components exemptions is currently open for public consultation.
FSC is currently updating its standards to ensure compliance of FSC certified products with government legality efforts, such as the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR), US Lacey Act and FLEGT. One of the required changes identified by FSC is the elimination of any non-certified/non-controlled components in FSC certified products, which applies to the so-called minor components.
FSC has launched a survey to gather targeted feedback on the draft Advice note on the end of minor components exemptions (FSC-ADVICE-40-004-09). The survey has been designed to primarily seek comments from those stakeholders directly affected by the elimination of the exemptions, the FSC Certificate Holders, and additionally includes a number of questions for FSC accredited Certification Bodies.
The survey will be open until 22 June 2012.
