The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), in collaboration with Accreditation Services International (ASI), is conducting a global assessment of inaccurate claims in high-risk supply chains. It is also piloting new solutions to managing high-risk supply chains in China, with the aim of expanding successful initiatives to other countries in the future.
China has more FSC chain of custody certificates than any other country, which makes it a good starting point to test the practicality of some of our solutions. This includes testing new transaction verification rules, which would allow certification bodies to verify transactions between two FSC-certified companies.
We are also testing an information-sharing tool called the FSC Online Claims Platform (OCP) that simplifies matching and comparing of transaction data from companies to certification bodies and ASI – and that could enhance the audit of these large volumes of information.
