Making national REDD+ more effective – lessons from pilot implementation and forest certification

Date: Friday, 4 Dec 2015
Time: 16.45 – 18.15
Location: Room 8

In recognition of the critical role that the conservation and sustainable management of forests play in the battle against climate change, Fauna & Flora International (FFI), the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) and OroVerde-Tropical Forest Foundation have come together to present approaches to harnessing the power of REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and forest certification to cut carbon emissions while simultaneously reducing poverty and conserving biodiversity.

FFI, FSC and OroVerde would like to invite you to an official COP side-event, in which these themes will be explored: Lessons learned from site-level REDD+, and the use of voluntary standards and existing forestry certification tools, to inform national REDD+ action plans and the implementation of safeguards.
