The FSC International staff started off their day with a visit to the Waldau FSC certified forest in Bonn, organized with Haus der Natur (Nature House). Here, foresters showed how responsible forest management according to FSC’s Principles Criteria takes place in the city forest. Participants enjoyed several team building activities including learning about the region’s flora and fauna and a blindfolded forest walk.
The festivities continued at Bonn International School, where Outreach and Events Manager Anakarina Pérez Oropeza participated in a seminar on global issues, making a presentation about FSC. The seminar generated a lot of interest form sharp students who were well-versed in the importance of forestry.
FSC Friday concluded with a get-together at the FSC International Secretariat, where participants had the opportunity to learn more about celebrations around the world and hear live testimonials from FSC Spain Director Gonzalo Anguita, Tetra Pak Environmental Communications Manager Ann-Sofie Freijs, and FSC Director General Kim Carstensen.
