FSC presents its new due diligence system for carbon schemes at COP19

© FSC A.C.On 14 November, FSC, Gold Standard and Fairtrade International held an official side event at the 19th Conference of the Parties (COP19) in Warsaw. At the event, titled ‘Leading trends in results-based finance for climate, environment and development’, the three organizations showed how they have aligned their system to ensure the adequate stewardship, safeguarding, monitoring and accounting of forest carbon. This is helping to scale up the practices, attract new sources of finance, and provide investors and certified beneficiaries with much-needed confidence. read more …

European initiative to accelerate the responsibly sourced tropical timber market

Amsterdam, 6th November: Almost 40 organizations commit to join the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition (European STTC) (© Marc van der Kort)© Marc van der KortOn 6th November, over forty private and public organizations jointly launched the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition (European STTC ). The coalition aims to increase European demand for timber from sustainably managed tropical forests. Hans Stout, program director IDH: "We need to increase responsibly sourced tropical timber to protect the existing tropical forests and their inhabitants. The European STTC will boost demand at European level to create a business case for sustainable forest management.” read more …

© FSC International‘In Good Company’ is FSC International’s annual global conference to engage with the private sector. This year’s event, held on October 10–11 in Copenhagen and hosted by FSC Denmark, attracted over 200 participants from FSC’s global network, including international businesses and NGOs.
