Forest Program
Driving innovation in forest management

The Forest Program is in charge of the development and revision of the FSC Normative Framework related to Forest Management Certification.

This maintenance and implementation of the FSC Normative Framework is done through several project lines, which can be found below.

FSC FM Normative Framework
The Forest Program develops and revises the FSC normative documents related to Forest Management Certification. This also includes the development of Standards Interpretations.

International Generic Indicators
To facilitate the implementation of the FSC Principles and Criteria Version 5 (P&C V5), the FSC Board of Directors instructed the FSC Secretariat to develop a set of International Generic Indicators (IGIs).

National Standards
The Forest Program guides and supports the transfer of FSC Forest Stewardship Standards to national conditions, through the development of National Standards.

High Conservation Values
The Forest Program advises on the identification and management of High Conservation Values (HCVs), specified in Principle 9 of the FSC Principles and Criteria.

Pesticides
The Forest Program develops the FSC’s pesticide policy and linked standards, with the aim of avoiding highly hazardous pesticides, and promoting alternatives and non-chemical methods of pest management in FSC certified forests.
