Swedish company BRIO presents toys made from responsibly produced wood

Rio 2016 gives impetus to certified wood and paper in Brazil

This includes overlay structures, furniture, communication materials and stationery. Results of first Russian FSC Green Architecture Award announced

Around 30 buildings, including some being constructed for the Sochi Olympic Games, are certified by green building standards systems such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). Most of these systems encourage the use of FSC certified wood. But even though 22% of global forests are situated in Russia, the use of wood in the green building sector is still relatively low. In order to promote the use of FSC certified wood in green building in Russia, FSC Russia and the National Agency for Sustainable Development has established the FSC Green Architecture Award. read more …

Youth-led NGO TECHO commits to using FSC certified wood for social housing projects in Latin America

© TECHOTECHO, a youth-led non-for-profit organization in Latin America and the Caribbean, has committed to using FSC certified timber in all its construction projects in Latin America by 2015. The NGO aims to overcome poverty in slums through the joint work of families living in poverty and young volunteers. One of their core activities is to build transitional houses for and with families living in squatter settlements. TECHO has built over 95,000 prefabricated transitional houses made of wood since 1997. read more …
