Increasing consumer awareness of FSC in the Nordic countries

New opportunities for FSC certified products in EU plywood market

EU plywood market (© FSC A.C.)© FSC A.C.An article published recently by the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) argues that the European Union plywood market has been affected significantly by enforcement of the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) that came into effect on 3 March 2013. ITTO are already observing strong signals indicating a shift to alternative products and supply sources in the plywood market. Buyers are turning away from Chinese mixed light hardwood (MLH) plywood, for which importers claim it is difficult to obtain reliable evidence of legal origin. read more …

Nokia prioritizes FSC certified virgin fibers for packaging materials

© Nokia Packaging DesignNokia, a global leader in mobile communications, recently announced that it aims to use 100-percent certified renewable or recycled materials for its fiber-based printing and packaging materials by 2015. Nokia’s Natural Resources Policy states a preference for FSC certified materials, and targets an average of at least 70 percent of recycled fibers used across all packaging. read more …
