Applicants for membership request to join one of the three chambers – Environmental, Social or Economic – which best represents their interests. In some cases the Membership Committee may allocate an applicant to a different chamber if it better reflects the applicant’s activities.
The Social Chamber includes non-governmental organizations, indigenous people’s associations, unions, research, academic institutions and individuals that have a demonstrated commitment to socially beneficial forestry.
The Environmental Chamber includes non-profit, non-governmental organizations, as well as research, academic, technical institutions and individuals that have an active interest in environmentally appropriate forest stewardship.
The Economic Chamber includes organizations and individuals with a commercial interest in forest management and forest products. These include industry associations, wholesalers, retailers, manufacturers, traders, and certification bodies.
