These figures represent a sizeable increase in all three countries. For Sweden, it is an increase from 13 percent in 2011 and 14 percent in 2012; in Finland, awareness was 10 percent in 2011 and 11 percent in 2012. FSC awareness is notably lower in Norway, but has still increased from 4 percent in 2011 and 2012.
“The increase of awareness and confidence in the FSC label in Sweden shows that Swedish consumers take forest issues seriously and realize the importance of making active choices”, says Lina Bergström, director of FSC Sweden.
The study was undertaken by Refina Information AB and commissioned by Tetra Pak. Respondents were aged between 18 and 75 and the interviews were held in January and February 2013. At least 1000 interviews were completed in each country.
