The goal was to increase awareness and use of the FSC trademark in the furniture sector, for which Italy is renowned worldwide. The award acts to draw the attention of designers, industry and of the final consumer to the origin of raw materials and highlight the importance of well-managed forests.
The subject of the inaugural award was "tidy up the space". Participants were required to design an innovative and high-quality piece of furniture, which ‘tidies’ up and organizes a space inside a room of a house. The object had to be made entirely from FSC-certified wood (excluding small parts, joints and screws).
And the winner is...
It was a hard decision for the jury of experienced designers from academia and business to choose from such a variety of excellent designs. The final award decisions are the following projects which stood out from the submissions in the category of young professionals:
• The first prize goes to Stella Berton with her project “Spline”
• Second place for Mattia Kenneth Sartori with the project “Lulù”
• Third place for Carmine Sessa with the project “Stick office”
Furthermore, eight projects were distinguished by special mention from the jury and a prize was awarded to the project “Piolo” from Michele Perissinotto and Arrigo Bedogni for the category “Students IUAV” (Istituto Universitario di Architettura Venezia).
