FSC has decided to extend the application period for the International Generic Indicators (IGI) Working Group until 11 May, 2012. The IGIs will serve as the baseline requirements for the revised FSC P&C, putting to practice this core forest management standard of the FSC. We highly encourage all qualified candidates to apply. A key qualification in the selection process is the willingness and ability of the candidate to effectively engage and represent their respective sub-chamber, and we therefore urge sub-chambers to help us reach out to these qualified candidates and encourage them to apply.

The Terms of Reference and Application form are attached.

Also note that the first meeting of the IGI Working Group is scheduled for the week of 11 June, 2012, at FSC IC offices in Bonn, Germany.  If you are a candidate for the IGI Working Group then please keep these dates in mind.

An IGI survey was also released on 23 April seeking your direct input into the 'Zero Draft' of the IGIs, and the survey deadline has been extended to 14 May.  We need to hear from you regarding what key issues should be considered in developing the IGIs, which and how certain 'Explanatory Notes' should be taken into consideration, and what 'lessons learned' from the P&C revision process can strengthen the IGI development process.

Attached is a briefing paper that provides additional information about the intent of the survey, with a link to the survey on the final page.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or comments.
