New study: Certification can help mitigate risk of illegal imports to the EU

Last month, the UK’s Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House, published a study investigating the role of certification in the due diligence schemes required by the European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR). In particular, Certified Products and EUTR Compliance in the Furniture Sector explores how certification can help mitigate the high risk of importing Asian furniture produced with illegally harvested and traded timber. It focuses on FSC as the dominant certification scheme in this area. read more …
