Countdown for the second draft IGIs

The FSC International Generic Indicator (IGI) Group met in October in Lisbon to agree on the final steps towards the second draft of the IGIs. Two sub-groups of its members are working in parallel to finalize the new draft, while another sub-group is focused on engagement tools for the second public consultation. There is high expectation and willingness to comment on this second draft of the IGIs, which is expected to be sent to the Network Partners in December. read more …

Trademark PortalThe FSC Secretariat is pleased to launch the new Trademark Portal. This is an online resource center for FSC Certificate Holders and Trademark Service License Holders. Youth-led NGO TECHO commits to using FSC certified wood for social housing projects in Latin America

© TECHOTECHO, a youth-led non-for-profit organization in Latin America and the Caribbean, has committed to using FSC certified timber in all its construction projects in Latin America by 2015. The NGO aims to overcome poverty in slums through the joint work of families living in poverty and young volunteers. One of their core activities is to build transitional houses for and with families living in squatter settlements. TECHO has built over 95,000 prefabricated transitional houses made of wood since 1997. read more …

FSC Italy Design award winners announced at gala ceremony

(© FSC Italia)© FSC ItaliaThe second edition of the FSC Italy Design Competition, ‘The forest in a room’ closed and the award winners received their prizes at a gala ceremony held at Caffè Pedrocchi in Padova on 4 October 2013. This year’s competition focused on domestic socializing, with participants invited to design chairs, dining tables, coffee tables, lighting systems or other furnishings that reflect aspects of sharing and spending time together in our homes. read more …
