Danish governement commits to procurement of responsible wood and paper

© FSC A.CCOPENHAGEN – Years of hard work by Danish NGOs and companies has finally paid off. The Danish Ministry of the Environment recently declared that it would now be mandatory for the State’s public purchasers to ensure that wood used in construction, furniture and paper products originated from responsibly managed forests. With the support of members, other FSC companies and environmental organisations, FSC Denmark has worked for years to motivate the Danish Ministry of the Environment to take action. read more …

Amsterdam, 6th November: Almost 40 organizations commit to join the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition (European STTC) (© Marc van der Kort)© Marc van der KortOn 6th November, over forty private and public organizations jointly launched the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition (European STTC ). The coalition aims to increase European demand for timber from sustainably managed tropical forests. Hans Stout, program director IDH: "We need to increase responsibly sourced tropical timber to protect the existing tropical forests and their inhabitants. The European STTC will boost demand at European level to create a business case for sustainable forest management.” read more …
