FSC has provided details of the implementation of the regulation requiring certificate holders to participate in the FSC fiber testing program.
The details are in the form of a flowchart, and address Clause 6 ‘ADV-40-005-20 Sourcing of co-products under the EU Timber Regulation’: “A company sourcing co-products and applying this advice must agree in writing to participate in the FSC fiber testing program (agreements shall be sent to the FSC Quality Assurance Unit)”.
The flowchart may be found just below the article. This document was developed by the Policy and Standard Unit (PSU) and the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU) of FSC International. It presents some steps to follow when implementing the ADV requirements with specification of the roles of the certificate holders, certification bodies, and FSC (especially by QAU).
The document explains that certificate holders must inform their certification body in writing about their agreement to participate in the FSC Fiber Testing program by using the form provided in the Annex 1 of this procedure. The certification body must also notify the FSC Supply Chain Integrity Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org) of the certificate holders’ participation by forwarding the signed form (digital and/or printed version). The FSC Supply Chain Integrity Manager must then confirm the participation and inform the certificate holder about the further process.
